Makiko Shinoda's Playing with Senses is a "perceptible chess game" for children.
Take a look at the video below and you'll see that the pieces in the game don't look like traditional chess pieces; they vary in weight, smell, material, form and texture. This allows the players to mould the game in whichever way they choose. While toddlers can use the set as building blocks, older children can play chess with it.
