Google Self-Driving Car 8 Mar 2011
At the recent TED 2011 event, Google offered attendees rides in their self-driving cars. These videos show Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land being taken for the ride of his life, as the car zooms around the empty car parking lot.
On a regular street a destination would be programmed in (as you would with a GPS), a general route would be computed, and then the car would take over. According to Google it has driven routes from San Francisco to Los Angeles, all through automation.
