Touch the Invisibles 4 Aug 2009
As we've noted on this blog many times before, the problem with most touchscreens is that they don't provide any tactile feedback - which makes pushing their buttons harder than pushing those on a physical keypad (and impossible for blind people).
Touch the Invisibles - a project by nosigner, Hiroyuki Ando, Junji Watanabe and Eisuke Kusachi - is the latest in a series of attempts to solve this problem. The concept is simple: You affix a small device to your fingernail which vibrates whenever you place your finger over a "tactile" area on the touchscreen. As today and tomorrow says, "It's probably not the most elegant solution to this problem, but I would like to try it out anyway."
