SandScape: A sand-based user interface 5 Jun 2009

First it was mud, then clay, now it's sand's turn...Check out MIT's SandScape - a sand-based interface that lets users "alter the form of [a] landscape model by manipulating sand while seeing the resultant effects of computational analysis generated and projected on the surface of sand in real-time".
