Maglev toy train 19 Jun 2009

Jason Kottke points us to this video of a toy maglev train which, as he says, is a great illustration of how the technology works. (Skip to end to see how it deals with obstructions on the line and how it can cling to the side of buildings).

Kottke also refers to a Popular Science article that discusses the possibility of a trans-Atlantic maglev train that would travel in an vacuum-sealed underwater tunnel at 4,000 MPH and make the trip from New York to London in an hour!

It was rather interesting for me to read this article. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more soon.
