Artists commandeer Manhattan billboards 7 May 2009
When artist Jordan Seiler found out that NPA Outdoor were operating over 500 illegal billboards in NYC, he was incensed - so he formed The Municipal Landscape Control Committee which mapped the location of each site. Then, on Saturday, 26th April 2009, as part of an event that has since become known as the New York Street Advertising Takeover (NYSAT), the committee siezed approximately 120 of the offending billboards and replaced them with their own works of art.
