The Impossible Project 20 Jan 2009
As you probably know, Polaroid has spent the last few years transforming itself from an analog film company into a digital imaging company. This process culminated in June of last year with the closure of its Instant Packfilm production factory in Mexico and Instant Integral production factory in the Netherland - closures that saw the company end its production of analog instant film.
While Polaroid no doubt sees this shift in strategy as inherently necessary (if the company is to continue to compete in the "digital age"), it has unfortunately left many photographers, designers and artists unable to use the vintage Polaroid cameras they have become so fond of.
Enter Impossible b.v. then, a Dutch company that has acquired Polaroid's old equipment and factory in Enschede, and engaged the "world's most experienced team of Integral Film experts", with the aim of re-starting production of analog Intergral Film for vintage Polaroid cameras in 2010!
