SmartBolts feature a simple colour-coded indicator on their tops that tells you whether you've tightened them well enough. If the indicator is red, your bolt's too loose; if it's black, your bolt's too tight; and if it's green, you've got it just right...which means that you don't have to live in fear of that bookcase falling onto one of your children.

(In case you were wondering, they use simple fluid compression to measure "tightness" and change colour, so there are no moving parts, batteries, etc. to worry about. They have a lifespan of about 20 years too!).
