Milk/Cheese Cartons 12 Dec 2008

Following on nicely from yesterday's post on "Fresh Labels", we bring you Ko Yang's snappily-titled "Expiry Date / The Things Far Away Beyond Numbers" milk cartons. As you can see from the illustration above, the more the milk goes bad, the more the packaging starts to resemble cheese!

Fun and nice to look at but a bit anti-useful, surely, since it uses a gradient to represent only 2 states - "you can drink it" and "you can't drink it". It isn't obvious at a glance how much it needs to have turned before it's "off"...

Martin: I agree completely. It also gives irresponsible shop owners the option to sell "off" milk as "cheese" (which it isn't...because, unless you introduce rennet or a substitute, it remains sour, food-poisoning-inducing milk).
