Etre Touchy Update: Buzz Round-Up! 15 Dec 2008

The buzz surrounding our gloves continues to grow! Here are some of the places Etre Touchy has cropped up in over the last two weeks or so:
Newspapers
The Cleveland Reader/The Plain Dealer (Ohio, US)
America's 17th largest newspaper featured us in its 2008 Holiday Gift Guide. One enthusiastic website commenter responded: "I am a letter carrier for the post office and tried these gloves. They are perfect for the job. They keep your hands warm and because they don't cover your thumb and index finger, make it easy to grip and riffle the mail while walking. I strongly recommend them."
Charlotte Observer (North and South Carolina, US)
Etre Touchy appeared in last Thursday's Style section of the Charlotte Observer - the largest newspaper in the Carolinas - alongside eight other "gift suggestions that exude style". The Observer's Style Editor, Rachel Sutherland, described how "the techies who sit near me cooed with excitement" when our gloves arrived in the paper's office!
Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Georgia, US)
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - the only major daily newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia - featured Etre Touchy in its Style section last week, branding them an "eyecatcher".
St. Paul Pioneer Press (Minnesota, US)
St. Paul Pioneer Press' resident gadget guru, Julio Ojeda-Zapata, described our gloves as "Brilliant!" in the Minnesota-based newspaper's Tech Test Drive Gift Guide 2008.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Pennsylvania, US)
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Pittsburgh's largest daily newspaper - listed us in its Holiday Gift Guide as a "tech toy the grown-up kid will love."
The Record (Canada)
"If you are looking for an inexpensive gift for bigger kids who are BlackBerry or iPod addicts, the Etre Touchy gloves will make a great gift" says Ontario's The Record. "Yes, you may look a bit silly wearing them but for the diehard BlackBerry user, the strange looks will be worth it."
LiveMint (India)
LiveMint - an Indian online newspaper affiliated with The Wall Street Journal - listed our gloves as a product that's "going to click in 2009".
The Irish News
The Irish News dedicated half a page to our gloves in its Tuesday, 2nd December edition, calling them "a stylish lifestyle accessory". They also pointed out that Etre Touchy are "excellent for those addicted to picking their nose!"
Metro (Ireland)
Our gloves shared a page with Vivienne Westwood's latest collection in the Irish edition of the Metro at the start of the week. We appeared under the (surely) Inspector Gadget-inspired heading of "[Go, Go] Gadget Fingers".
Western Mail (Wales)
In his Big Boys Toys column for Wales' national newspaper, the Western Mail, Matt Thomas wrote "The company that produces them seems to be some sort of communications agency, so I suppose these gloves are probably some sort of cynical marketing ploy but I like them. So there".
Angling Times (UK)
The UK's largest angling newspaper has branded our gloves a "touch of genius". While we designed them with users of mobile devices primarily in mind, the Angling Times's Mark Sawyer and Jonathon Taylor point out that their missing thumb and index fingertips enable fishermen to "tie hooks and knots easily". The two journalists also note that Etre Touchy "offer great protection from the cold".
Radio
BBC Radio Nottingham (UK)
Our very own Simon Griffin appeared on John Holmes' popular afternoon show on BBC Radio Nottingham to discuss our gloves, growing up in Nottingham and the song he recorded for his beloved Notts County FC. He also bumped into Ronnie Corbett!
93.9 WLIT-FM (Illinois, US)
Our gloves made 93.9 WLIT-FM's 2008 Christmas Gift Guide. (For those outside the US, WLIT-FM is a Chicago-based radio station that was once home to none other than Ms. Whoopi Goldberg!)
Magazines
ZOO Magazine (UK)
If you grab yourself a copy of last week's ZOO magazine (available until tomorrow), you'll find our gloves listed in their Ultimate Xmas Gift Guide 2008! "Leaves your fingertips free to handle any gadgets while still maintaining warm mitts," they say, "Plus, you'll look like your on strike!"
Your London Magazine (UK)
Our gloves were branded the "Best Buy" in Your London's "This Week's Hot Products" column. Not bad, considering the column featured an impressive selection of merchandise (including the Flip Mino Digital Camcorder!)
MacWorld Magazine (France)
Zut alors! MacWorld magazine has only gone and labelled our gloves "une bonne idée de cadeau pour Noël" - which, roughly translated, means "a great gift for Christmas"!
Blogcritics Magazine (US)
"If only I had known about Etre's Touchy gloves" writes Alyse Wax in her review for Blogcritics' 2008 Holiday Special. She'd just returned from a freezing TV shoot in Delaware, you see, where she'd been forced to keep removing her regular pair of gloves (and run the risk of getting frostbite) to answer her phone and check email.
Online
Phone Reviews
"Touchscreen heaven" is how Phone Reviews' Mark Chubb describes our gloves in his recent review of the product. "I actually love these gloves," he enthuses, "and would definitely recommend them to anyone using touchscreen devices, they are normal gloves with the main fingertips missing, simple but clever."
LimeLife
"Touch your touchpad with these," says LimeLife - the US's freshest, smartest community site for women - who are using Etre Touchy to "stay warm and tappy this winter!"
Tech Digest TV
Europe's leading site for consumer technology, news and opinion lists Etre Touchy gloves in its Top 100 Christmas Presents for 2008, branding them "Perfect for the iPhone owner in your life" and giving them a "bargain rating" of 4/5!
