Ocarina: iPhone as instrument 19 Nov 2008
Ocarina is the "first true musical instrument created for the iPhone". Incredibly, in addition to making use of the device's touchscreen capabilities, it's also sensitive to movement (thanks to the iPhone's accelerometer) and your breath (!)...making it even more versatile than the instrument's non-digital ancestor.
Unlike other musical iPhone applications, this one isn't about triggering a set of pre-compiled multi-note riffs and licks - you play each note yourself, by blowing into the iPhone's microphone while using your digits to cover the "finger holes" that appear on the screen!
Ocarina is also a social application. If you tap on its globe icon, you can see and hear other Ocarina players making sweet, sweet music from all around the world!
