Microsoft's virtual touchpad lets you scroll in thin air 20 Nov 2008

This video from New Scientist shows how Microsoft is "extending the concept of the touchscreen beyond the edges of the phone itself".

That's right - thanks to a new system called SideSight, you will soon be able to control your phone by wiggling your fingers in the space around it!

I can imagine this will really open up the market for Microsoft.

Imagine how many people currently wouldn't touch Windows Mobile with a bargepole... Now Microsoft can capture that user-base by allowing them to use it without touching it at all!
