Multi-touch goes mainstream 15 Sep 2008
Apparently, CNN has been trialling a licensed version of Jeff Han's multi-touch screen technology for the last six months:
...It's amazing how quickly this technology has established itself, isn't it? Still, we can't help wondering whether viewers will continue to enjoy watching newsreaders clumsily caressing their flat screen TVs once the novelty factor has worn off!

I think Channel 4 news did a trial with touch screens some time last year. I remember seeing the anchor pressing and swiping at the screen on her desk and looking like a bit of an idiot to be honest. The people in charge must have thought so too as I never saw the experiment repeated.

Juding from the clip, it looks like he is using a standard "smartboard" interactive whiteboard. I didn't notice any multitouch interaction in there...

@Tamlyn: That doesn't surprise me :-) In the fast paced world of live news/TV, anything that requires a degree of interaction is just asking for trouble (since it increases the chances that something will go wrong with an otherwise slick production)!
@Harry: Fast-forward to around 3m 00s and you'll see the analyst use multi-touch to resize the map.
