Google Chrome: One percent market share in just eight days! 17 Sep 2008
Another demonstration of Google's might...As of last Wednesday (10th September), Google's new browser - Chrome - had taken one percent of the market (i.e. one percent of the world's internet users had adopted it). Now, if you think one percent isn't much, consider this: (i) Chrome had only been available for eight days at this point; and (ii) one percent means that it has already overtaken Opera - a browser that's market share currently stands at 0.74 percent - even though Opera has been around for years!
Obviously, Chrome has a long way to go before it can be considered a serious challenger to Internet Explorer (which has 72.15 percent of the market) and Firefox (which has 19.73 percent). However, Apple may already be glancing nervously over its shoulder, since Safari's market share currently stands at 6.37 percent.
