Chrome: Google's new browser 2 Sep 2008
You knew it was going to happen...Google has announced that it will be launching a beta version of a new browser - called "Google Chrome" - today! Actually, if you read the announcement post on The Official Google Blog - or better yet, read the announcement comic (yes, comic!) - you'll quickly realise that its not really a new browser at all, it's actually the first mainstream web operating system (webOS). In other words, it's a platform for rendering not only websites, but all manner of other web applications and widgets.
We're really looking forward to getting our hands on Chrome since it promises to be much faster and more responsive than Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari, while adopting a clean and clear user interface. It's also open source!
