The Crayola EZ Type keyboard may not make typing so EZ after all 27 Aug 2008

We know, we know, the Crayola EZ Type keyboard is made for kids and, as such, isn't a serious keyboard for serious typists...However, since its name suggests that it's supposed to make typing EZ (or, at least, EZ-er), how come it doesn't feature the offset alignment employed by nearly all other keyboards?

If you look at a standard keyboard, you'll notice that the "A" key, for example, does not sit directly below the "Q" key - it's offset to the right slightly and therefore sits somewhere between the "Q" and the "W". This layout is designed specifically to facilitate easier typing - so it's therefore difficult to understand why Crayola has chosen not to implement it in its own "EZ" design. Yes, most kids aren't touch typists, but why make them familiar with a layout that they will never come across again?

yeah but look at all the pretty colours!!

I wish my keyboard was that pretty... if they just made a keyboard like that, but offset as you say - I think it'd be a hit!
