Audi to eliminate traffic lights 31 Jul 2008

Hot on the heels of our post on Ford's new Smart Intersection system, comes news of Audi's attempts to eliminate traffic lights. Nope, it isn't going to remove them - but it is building a system that will help drivers miss as many red lights as possible.

The system - currently in testing - requests status information from specially equipped traffic lights and uses it to compute the exact speed you need to maintain to pass through them without having to stop. Nice!

It's not going to help you in a traffic jam though, is it?
