Starbucks revisits its original logo 1 May 2008

Starbucks has taken a bit of a battering lately - partly due to increased competition in the marketplace (Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds and the like all now offer premium-brand coffee and espresso drinks) and partly due to some poor business decisions (by offering all manner of food and beverage options, the company has switched focus away from what has made it so successful: coffee). The net result: The Starbucks brand has become jaded and diluted.

So in an effort to get "back to basics" the company has decided to revert to its original logo - the logo that sparked the world's love affair with the company in the first place. Yes, after 37 years, Starbucks has gone back to its roots by re-issuing an iconic cup that bears its original "siren" logo (Actually, it's a slightly-modified version of the original design. The siren's breasts have been hidden in this reworking to preserve her modesty).
