Blockbuster's latest idea 29 May 2008

CNET's Steven Musil on Blockbuster's latest idea:

"...The latest idea from Blockbuster can best be described as 'Netflix meets YouTube, without the convenience.' That's basically the pitch Blockbuster Chairman and CEO James Keyes made at his first annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday when he unveiled an in-store kiosk he hopes consumers will use to download movies."

Erm...How about delivering movies directly to our PCs/mobile devices/TVs? You know, like most of your competitors are starting to do.

I take your point and maybe I'm clutching at straws here, but wouldn't the benefit of using a kiosk be much faster download speed?

@Alf: The increased transfer speed might be particularly useful if you want to download a number of movies in one go.

Erm, how about not attempting to take me to court for the £3.75 you believe I owe you, even though the disc was scratched to high heaven? Wake up blockbuster, nobody likes you.
