Christiaan Postma's "Clock sculpture" 24 Apr 2008

Christiaan Postma's "Clock sculpture" consists of 150 separate hands that rotate to spell out the name of the current hour. For example, the word "three" starts to emerge at around 2:30pm and is perfectly legible at exactly 3:00pm. It then slowly begins to disappear as the word "four" emerges elsewhere on the clockface. Take a look at the animation on Christiaan's site to see this effect in action...

Amazing! Getting the hands to sync like that must have been a ruddy nightmare!

The designer obviously had a lot of hands on his time ;-)
