Elliptic Labs' touch-less user interface 4 Feb 2008

Just when you'd gotten used to touch-screen technology, a company from Norway comes along and invents touch-less technology. Elliptic Labs' new system detects motion in 3D and requires no special gloves or sensors for operation. By simply pointing at the screen, users can manipulate the object being displayed in all three dimensions. Detalis about how this product actually works are sketchy at the moment (I guess Johnny Chung Lee's research may provide some clues), however the demo video below is pretty darned impressive:

There site says they can make the sensors small enough to fit inside mobile devices too. Tho I'm not sure why you would want to interact with a mobile device without touching it?!

You realize that this demonstration can be applied in the spy industry. Detection motion sensors that can rebuild your movement can be easily used to track a person without her/him knowing that in 3D space.
