Mark Malkoff lives in IKEA 18 Jan 2008
When Mark Malkoff's apartment needed fumigating, he was foced to vacate for a week. Finding alternative digs wasn't as easy as he'd thought however. He couldn't find a place to crash at any of his friends' small studio apartments and couldn't afford a week's stay in a hotel. Left with few remaining options, things were looking bleak - it was looking like he'd have to sleep on the street. But then, inspiration struck...
Mark called up his local IKEA store in Paramus, New Jersey and managed to convince them to let him live there instead. In return for their kindness, he promised to document his experience on film...so you can now watch his video diary at www.marklivesinikea.com.
IKEA, we salute you! A brilliant piece of positive PR...

I guees this guy was inspired by "Ikea Hostel" in Norway - a converted warehouse where Ikea customers can stay overnight if they haven't finished their shopping.

Zidge: I can't decide whether I find the idea of Ikea Hostels disturbing or convenient?!

I'm glad someone is satified with Ikea.
they promised to fit a kitchen for me on June 2nd. I have just been informed the cooker will not be in stock until July 1st. The taps August 1st and the worktops have been delivered in error to Scotland.
Perhaps I should have asked if I could move into one of their stores until my kitchen was finished. Xmas?
