2504 steps to closing your Facebook account 11 Jan 2008
Steven Mansour has published an interesting post about his attempts to delete his Facebook account, announcing:
"Yes, it's true! I finally managed to close my Facebook account. It was a long, arduous road - the hardest part was slaying the Gorgon on level 16 - and I'm glad it's finally over."
If the transcript of his email conversation with a customer service representative is accurately reproduced, then Facebook should be ashamed of itself. It seems that the company only "deactivates" your account if you ask to have it deleted - which, of course, means that all of your personal and private data lives on in the site long after you've left. Why would a website want to cling onto a user's dormant account? Read more about it here.
