IVY: A hard drive that shows you its contents 20 Dec 2007

A hard drive featuring a large oled display, which shows a treemap (i.e. collection of connected rectangles).

IVY is an external hard drive that displays the number and structure of the files that it holds (using the SequoiaView treemap algorithm). This gives users a sense of how much space is available on the disk and allows them to locate the largest and smallest files or files that haven't been accessed in a long time.

The product usability blog points out that the concept is similar in nature to the flashbag usb drive, the insync twisted hard drive and the hard drive capacity gauge).
