Ergonomie Web: Etre in print! 5 Dec 2007

Back in July, French usability ace Amélie Boucher got in touch with us to ask if she could use some of our eye tracking research in a book she was writing. Naturally, we were extremely flattered and happily gave her our blessing. In the months that followed however, we heard nothing more about it and assumed that our piece had fallen prey to her editor's red pen.

We were therefore delighted last week, when a parcel arrived at our office containing Amélie's finished book, "Ergonomie Web: Pour des sites web efficacies" (or "Web Usability: For effective websites"). You can buy it now from Amazon.fr.

Our research - including some sexy heatmaps - appears from page 404 onwards.

As the name suggests, it's only available in French at the present time, however we're hopeful of an English translation at some point in the near future.

We're really excited about this since "Ergonomie Web" marks the first appearance of our work in a good, old-fashioned, real, physical book (as far as we know, anyway). And, although it seems strange that we've made it into print in French before making it into print in English, it's actually kind of fitting, since, while we're based in the UK, our name is French and so are many of our biggest clients.

Of course, this won't be the last you read about us on dead trees. We've also contributed significant material to Donna Maurer's forthcoming book "Card Sorting: The Book" and Luke Wroblewski's "Web Form Design Best Practices", both of which are due for publication at the start of next year. We're also appearing in another couple of web design tomes around the same time, although details are strictly classified for now. Watch this space for more details...

PS. If you'd like to use any of our work in your own publications, please don't hesitate to get in touch (providing details of intended use etc.).

Congratulations!

I'm half French myself and yet I have been pronouncing your company name as 'eh-tree'... I hadn't realised that it was actually être :)

Tamlyn: Lol...you say "potato", we say "potahto" eh?...We don't mind whether you call us "eh-tree", "eh-tray", "eh-trah" or "eh-trrrrrrrre", so long as you're saying good things about us ;-)

Thanks for your continued contributions to our blog by the way - we greatly appreciate it :-)

I actually bought the book from Amazon here in the States and I've been reading you guys for a week now. Never actually realised you were an UK based company. Congrats to all the team out there!
