Google's 20 percent time 7 Nov 2007

From The Official Google (RSS) Reader Blog:

"At Google, 20% time is core to our culture and today's Reader release incorporates features developed by two engineers in their 20% time."

What's 20 percent time? 20 percent time is a company policy that enables Google's engineers to spend one day a week working on projects that aren't necessarily related to their job descriptions. They can use this time to develop something completely new or fix an existing product or service that's broken - it's up to them.

What a great way to keep staff members' creative juices flowing.
