The Nokia S60: More touch-friendly than the iPhone? 17 Oct 2007
Nokia showed off its new S60 at the Symbian Smartphone Show yesterday. The phone's touch-interface supports haptic / tactile feedback and accepts both finger and stylus input. Could this device blow the iPhone out of the water? The video clip below might help you to make up your mind.

No multi-touch, though? Personally I never end up using a stylus for touch function - on my Nintendo DS I always end up using my fingers. It's quicker, and you always have them with you!
And as for blowing the iPhone out of the water...well, no. Turning the phone over to silence it is quite cool, but the other features just didn't seem any different than a regular Nokia. I do like their phones though, and before long they'll be developing something that WILL blow the iPhone away. (However, by then Apple will have already developed something even cooler)

I think the stylus might be a useful addition given the usability issues associated with the iPhone's touch-screen keyboard (it should at least improve selection accuracy until more sensitive touch-screen interfaces are available). Tactile feedback will prove equally beneficial, I imagine.
Maybe you're right and that Apple will continue to keep one step ahead of all of the other cell-phone manufacturers. But to do so will require a lot of effort. After all, in addition to developing the iPhone, Apple has to develop its range of MP3 players, computers, software packages, websites, peripherals...while Nokia can focus all of its resources on developing mobile phones.
