Mt. Everest summit: Now touring 25 Sep 2007
Hoax? Art? Or both? Artist Xu Zhen climbed Mt. Everest, shaved almost 2 metres off its peak and is now displaying it at the ShanghART gallery in Shanghai, China.
"Audiences may not believe that this is real, which is similar to how people rarely question whether the height of Everest truly is 8848 meters. This relationship between belief and doubt has to deal with questions of standard, height, reality, and borders."

An interesting project. Shame that it's described in such ridiculous art-babble on the gallery's site - a lesson in how to write a lot, without saying anything.
