Clarkson: I want a phone and nothing more 24 Sep 2007
Controversial motor-mouth (nice pun eh?) and Times columnist Jeremy Clarkson berates mobile phone manufacturers / retailers for not catering to the average consumer who just wants a phone, and nothing more:
"Not one single mobile phone company in this vast and glorious world is offering a phone that is just that. A phone. A device that enables you to speak with someone a long way away.
"What I want is a mobile phone with a battery that lasts for more than six seconds. This means no colour screen. A colour screen uses more electricity than the Pentagon. I do not want it to take photographs. I do not want it to play music. I do not want to receive e-mails. I want it to be a telephone."

That's the problem Mickey "no brains" Mouse, very few mobile manufacturers actually make a mobile phone that's just a phone.
I've personally got an Nokia N70, i've had it since the first week they came out and i'm more then happy with it. But for someone like my mother who doesn't want to Bluetooth, play MP3's, Take Photo's etc there's not many phones that don't have 1,001 extra functions jammed in to it.
