So much for freedom of information... 2 May 2007
Abercrombie & Fitch is deliberately blocking UK consumers from accessing its US website. Why? Because it doesn't want us Brits to know that we're paying double for its goods.
From the Telegraph:
"Many clothes in Abercrombie & Fitch's London store are priced 'pound for dollar', meaning that a polo shirt costing $49.50 in the US is priced £50 here. Current exchange rates mean that shoppers are paying the equivalent of $100 per shirt...With UK prices so high, a shopper need only buy 10 Abercrombie & Fitch polo shirts in London to have paid enough extra to buy a return flight to New York, the location of the next nearest Abercrombie & Fitch store."
Not quite as bad as the Best Buy fake website scam, but nevertheless it just isn't cricket chaps.
