Say no to no billboards 26 Mar 2007
DDB New Zealand created the campaign illustrated below in response to Auckland city council's attempts to ban billboards. The "Say No to No Billboards" ads were developed in partnership with New Zealand's Communication Agencies Association (CAANZ), billboard company OGGI and other local ad agencies who are concerned about the potential impact on business.
As Advertising for Peanuts points out, the logic seems a little strange (i.e. "billboards are ok because Auckland's buildings are ugly anyway"), but the approach is certainly novel.

As a former layabout of QEII Square I have to agree with OGGI. More often than not it's the buildings round Auckland that are the eye-sore... The billboards hide the horror behind them and provide commuters with something more pleasant to look at!

Hi guys, here in São Paulo - Brazil the major created the same law, removing almost every billboard from the city. But some guys created a site where the users can send its own billboard, check this:
