Walmart says download Godzilla, but not with Mozilla 7 Feb 2007

Smileycat reports that Walmart has launched a video download service. Unfortunately, it doesn't support Firefox (see above). As SC points out "What's funny is that Firefox users are exactly the type of tech-savvy early adopters that would be prepared to use such a service." D'oh!

The issue is simple : the server sends the CSS file with mimetype "text/plain" instead of "text/css". Therefore, the CSS file is never loaded ... it should be easy for them to correct this !

Great spot Nicholas! It still beggers belief that a company the size of Walmart doesn't test with Firefox (or any other Mozilla-based browser) though.

Lazy... lazy like a fox. I smell a rat.
Perhaps this is Microsoft looking for linchpins to help their shrinking marketshare alive by partnering with large product sites that are likely to be popular with less tech savvy users, who might have second thoughts about this new Fire-doo-hicky thing their brother just installed on their machine to replace IE and go back to their old standard.
I'm not certain this is the case, but if it's true, it wouldn't be the first time Redmond has played dirty ball to save market share. In fact, look at iTunes and Vista... or RealPlayer and Windows Me... or... well, you get my point.
Coincidence? I think not.
