Sorted link-lists using ambient signifiers 10 Feb 2007

Last month, we wrote about "ambient signifiers" - subtle cues that indicate a change in the environment without making the nature of that change explicit (Like the way that the address bar goes yellow in Firefox to indicate a secure site, for example).

This month, we thought we'd point you to Robert Hoekman Jr.'s "Design Stories: Sorted link-lists using 'ambient signifiers'". Robert's excellent article provides a concrete example of how web designers can use ambient signifiers to indicate the age (or "freshness" if you like) of content. Go take a look (and why not check out the rest of the "Design Stories" series too).
