To remain competitive, many online retailers offer a 30-day price protection guarantee. Put simply, this means that if they lower the price of an item within 30 days of when you purchased it, they'll refund you the difference. Of course, most of us won't remember (or won't be bothered enough) to keep returning to the site to check for price fluctuations. So the retailers win. Or, at least, they used to. Because now we have PriceProtectr.

PriceProtectr keeps an eye out for falling prices and notifies you when you're eligible for refunds. Apparently, some people have saved more than $3,000 using it!

Could this do for refunds what RetailMeNot is doing for coupon redemptions? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Unfortunately, PriceProtectr seems to be US only at the time of writing.
