UN warns on password explosion 5 Dec 2006
The BBC reports that the UN is calling for better ways for people to identify themselves online:
"The number of passwords and logins web users need makes it inevitable they will re-use phrases, warned the International Telecommunications Union (a UN agency). Re-using these identifiers puts people at serious risk of falling victim to identity theft, said the ITU report."

In a (perhaps) vain attempt to throw password crackers off the scent, I've replaced my login passwords with sentences - or as much of a sentence as will fit given the restrictions imposed by the password field length. I try to avoid using common phrases (like "the quick brown fox...") and instead use sentences that mean something to me ("I have three beautiful children who..."). Still, this hasn't stopped me being a victim of fraud twice this year (Admittedly offline)!

@Jen: I read an article on exactly this topic recently (link). Interestingly the author believes a pass phrase of between 15 and 25 characters is sufficient protection. It looks like yours is >30. That's a lot of typing!
