Nintendo, Wii have a problem! 15 Dec 2006

TV with Wii-controller-shaped crack in its screen

""Well he must have gotten too into the game and thought he actually was bowling because after a large windup the remote slipped from his hand and crashed into the tv. I immediately freaked but eventually chilled a little because the tv did in fact still work, it just had a large crack in the protective layer (the crack on the right)...After this event I instituted the strap policy. No strap, no play. This, of course, is before I knew about the failing straps. I guess the knowledge of the strap made it easier to sort of go crazy with the wiimote because I "knew" it wouldn't fly out of my hands. We were on the final frame and I had a healthy lead but wanted to turn the screws on [my friend] a little more. Wind up, shoot, *snap* CRASH! Broken wiimote strap, broken tv. This time, of course, the tv did NOT work afterwords."

Reports of Wii-related bashes, bruises and breakages are springing up all over the web at the moment. So much so in fact that there are now a number of sites dedicated to reporting such mishaps - like Wii Have A Problem and Wii Damage, for example. It can only be a matter of time before ITV commissions a "You've Been Framed" special!
