Wake up and smell the cookie! 15 Dec 2006

On Monday, 4th December Californian bus shelters were filled with the aroma of freshly-baked cookies - the mouth-watering smell eminating from new "Got Milk?" bus shelter advertisements. Unfortunately, the first outdoor ad campaign to use the medium of scent was removed the very next day after commuters complained that the ads were too intrusive.

Aside from being intrusive, some people expressed concern over potential allergic reactions to the scents and others complained that the ads taunted the homeless who couldn't afford to buy cookies.

When the media interviewed people waiting at one of the shelters, none wanted milk - they all wanted cookies instead! Not a very effective campaign if you ask me.
