Firefox 3.0 out now! 13 Dec 2006

Wow! The first alpha version of Firefox 3.0 is now available for download. That's a pretty impressive turnaround - Firefox 2.0 only came out on 24th October!

What's new? Well, somewhat disappointingly for those interested in UI matters, most of the innovations are under the hood. That said adding solid support for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), the Canvas specification, and the Cairo graphics library is an achievement not to be sniffed at.

It's also worth noting that fixes to the browser's CSS rendering engine means that it now passes the ACID2 test (a test page written to help browser vendors ensure proper support for web and related standards in their products).
