Last month we reported on the premature disclosure of information surrounding Amazon's new e-Book Reader - codenamed "Kindle". This month sees Sony's entry into the market with it's PRS-500 Portable Reader System.
Perhaps the most innovative feature of the PRS-500 is its "breakthrough E Ink technology that's almost paper-like". This, as you've probably guessed, is intended to make the experience of using the device more like reading a book or magazine, as opposed to reading from a monitor. (Several other features are included to prevent glare when reading in daylight, to prevent those notorious screen-induced migraines).
Due to "overwhelming demand" (not that old chestnut!), Sony's reader orders won't ship until mid-November, so we haven't been able to test the E Ink technology ourselves. If it does what it says on the tin though, it sounds pretty promising. Take a look at the Sony PRS-500 here .
