ThinkPads keep you out of deep water 21 Sep 2006

Lenovo's engineers are famous for their attention to detail. Here's an example of this from their Design Matters blog:

"Ever spilled something on your keyboard? Water, Mountain Dew, or worse, could mean the end of your keyboard, not to mention your data. Liquid and electrons do not mix. Fortunately we have thought about this for you...Cleverly integrated under the keyboard is a innovative drainage system similar to a roof gutter. This system collects and diverts the liquid harmlessly out of the bottom of your ThinkPad through a unique drain hole."

I actually named this problem 15 years ago: Premature Pepsi Failure. I'm delighted to see that someone is doing something to protect us from ourselves! (Why is it that -- with the exception of serious engineers -- we are unable to keep our food and drinks away from the keyboard?!)
