IE7 close to release 25 Aug 2006

Yesterday Microsoft issued a "Release Candidate 1" (RC1) version of Internet Explorer 7. This, it hopes, will be the last test version of the browser before it is released later this year.

In an interview with CNET News, Margaret Cobb, group product manager for IE said, "The purpose of RC1 is to get the latest release out to the developer community so they can continue to test their sites...as we get closer and closer to final release."

Cobb hopes RC1 will be its last test version, but said that a second release candidate could be added, depending on the feedback the company receives.

As we've mentioned before on this blog, the developer community remains extremely concerned about IE7's level of standards compliance. Read our Compliance Complaints and Compliance Complaints Revisited posts for more details.
