Gucci not so flashy 24 Aug 2006

Technofornication reports that Gucci has relaunched it's website and eradicated Flash from the design. Flash has been replaced with JavaScript effects from the Script.aculo.us library - presumably for a reasons of increased market penetration / standards-compliance / accessibility (although a quick test with our own accessibility check tool reveals a few minor glitches on some pages). This is a significant development as fashion / luxury goods websites have typically embraced Flash as their medium of choice. Will Gucci's new design tempt others to move away from the technology?
