Catch a sneak preview of what may be Amazon.com's new digital video store. Rumours have circulated for months that Amazon was preparing to make a foray into video downloads and now - thanks to some neat detective work - it seems we have proof. Alan Taylor, a former Amazon employee, posted screenshots on his blog yesterday after digging around for info on the service in Google's cache.

As you'll see, the store looks pretty close to launch. The main page is done, as are the content templates (barring a couple of broken gifs), and the "Unbox" video player application looks ready to go too.

It's about time iTunes had some serious competition...
